easyJet versus Fastjet

Fastjet.jpgThere have been some disputes between the founder of easyJet, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannu, and the current easyJet management. Now Sir Stellios will launch a new airline: Fastjet

Some of the disputes between easyJet's founder and the current easyJet management have been related to aircraft purchases and a dividend on easyJet shares. Sir Stelios believes that easyJet is buying too many aircraft, and should instead pay out dividends to its shareholders. This latter suggestion has now been acted upon, though there is no guarantee that it will be anything other than a one-off payment.

The large number of easyJet aircraft are almost all registered in the UK. Although a UK-registered aircraft sometimes helps out when a Swiss aircraft has problems, there seems no sign of any of these extra UK aircraft being permanently based in Switzerland as a reserve.

Fastjet already has a web site name reserved (fastjet.com, of course), but this says nothing other than that it will be coming soon. Of interest, though, is its colour: bright red. Maybe this will be the colour of the aircraft.

I wonder if they will be accepted at Geneva!
